Terms of Service

By using SkipATip, you agree to these terms. We've written them in plain English because we think you deserve to actually understand them.

What SkipATip Is

SkipATip is a community-powered directory of restaurants that do not require or pressure customers to tip. Listings are submitted by users and restaurant owners, reviewed by our team, and verified to the best of our ability.

We are a directory service — not a booking platform, not a delivery service, and not affiliated with any of the restaurants listed. We connect diners with places that share a philosophy: your bill should be your bill.

User Responsibilities

When using SkipATip, you agree to:

  Submit accurate information. If you submit a restaurant, you're attesting that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge — including the restaurant's name, location, and tipping policy.

  No fake or malicious listings. Do not submit restaurants that you know tip, submit competitor listings falsely, or attempt to manipulate the directory in any way.

  No abuse of the confirmation system. Confirmation votes exist to keep data accurate. Don't use bots, VPNs, or other methods to artificially inflate or deflate confirmation counts.

  Use the service lawfully. Don't use SkipATip for any purpose that violates applicable law or these terms.

Restaurant Owner Responsibilities

If you are a restaurant owner claiming or managing a listing on SkipATip, you agree to:

  Maintain accurate listing information. It is your responsibility to keep your listing up to date — including hours, location, and tipping policy. If anything changes, update your listing promptly.

  Tip-free status must be genuine. You must not represent your restaurant as tip-free if it is not. Listing a restaurant as tip-free when it in fact prompts or pressures customers to tip is a violation of these terms and will result in immediate removal.

  SkipATip Certified badge. The SkipATip Certified badge is granted after verification. If your tipping policy changes after certification, you must notify us. Continued display of the badge without accurate tip-free status is prohibited.

Our Right to Remove Listings

We reserve the right to remove, edit, or decline any listing at our sole discretion, at any time, for any reason — including but not limited to inaccurate tipping policy claims, user reports, or our own verification findings. We will not be liable for any business impact resulting from a listing being removed or modified.

No Warranty on Listing Accuracy

SkipATip is a community-verified directory. While we make reasonable efforts to verify listings, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any listing at any given time. Restaurant policies change. Our data may be outdated.

SkipATip is provided “as is” without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We are not responsible for any negative experience you have at a listed restaurant.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkipATip and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service — including reliance on any listing information. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms shall not exceed $10.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of SkipATip after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of California.
