Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about finding tip-free restaurants — and getting yours listed.
For Diners
What is SkipATip?
SkipATip is a directory of restaurants where tipping is genuinely optional — no tip screens, no iPad flips, no guilt. We list places that have built fair wages into their pricing so you can pay the bill and walk out without doing math or feeling like a bad person.
How do you verify that restaurants are actually tip-free?
We use a two-tier system. Community-reported listings are submitted by diners and clearly labeled as Unverified — they're a good lead, but we haven't confirmed them ourselves. Certified listings have been verified directly by the SkipATip team: we check the POS setup, the receipt, and the restaurant's stated policy before awarding the ✅ badge.
What's the difference between Unverified and Certified?
Unverified listings are community-submitted. Someone ate there, noticed no tip prompt, and reported it. We publish these because they're useful, but we can't guarantee accuracy. Certified listings have been confirmed by our team and carry the ✅ SkipATip Certified badge. When you want certainty, filter for Certified.
What if a listed restaurant actually has a tip screen?
Use the 👎 button on the restaurant's listing page to report it. We investigate every report and remove listings that no longer qualify. Your feedback is how we keep the directory accurate.
Is SkipATip free to use?
Yes — always free for diners. No account required, no paywall, no subscription. Just search and eat.
How do I find restaurants near me?
You can search by ZIP code, city name, or use your browser's location to find tip-free spots nearby. Head to the Restaurants page and use the search bar at the top.
Do you cover delivery orders?
We focus on in-person dining. Delivery platforms (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.) almost always show their own tip prompts regardless of the restaurant's in-house policy, so a listing on SkipATip doesn't guarantee a tip-free delivery experience. When you're sitting down at the table, though, you're good.
For Restaurant Owners
How do I get my restaurant listed?
Submit at /submit — it's free and takes about two minutes. Fill in your restaurant name, address, and a few details about your no-tip policy. Once submitted, your listing goes live as Unverified while we review it.
What is SkipATip Certified?
Certified is our verified tier. For a one-time $49 setup fee plus $39/month, we verify your tip-free policy directly, award your listing the ✅ SkipATip Certified badge, and place you at the top of search results. Certified restaurants get significantly more visibility than unverified listings.
How long does verification take?
Typically 24–48 hours after you submit your certification request. We may reach out with a quick question or two to confirm your policy.
Can I remove my restaurant from the directory?
Yes. Contact us and we'll remove your listing promptly. If your policy has changed and you've added a tip screen, please let us know — it saves your customers a frustrating experience and keeps our data clean.
What if I have multiple locations?
Each location is a separate listing, since tip policies can vary by location even within the same brand. Submit each one individually at /submit. If you're going Certified across multiple locations, reach out to press@skipatip.com and we can work out a multi-location arrangement.
