Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. SkipATip collects only what we need to operate the directory and improve the experience — nothing more. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.

What Data We Collect

  Email address — Only if you subscribe to our newsletter or create an account. Never collected passively.

  IP address (hashed) — We store a one-way hash of your IP address for rate-limiting restaurant confirmation votes. We cannot reconstruct your original IP from this hash.

  Restaurant submissions — When you submit a restaurant, we collect the details you provide (name, address, tipping policy, etc.) and optionally your email if you include it. Submissions become part of our public directory upon approval.

  Contact form messages — If you contact us via our contact form, we retain your name, email, and message content so we can respond to you.

How We Use Your Data

  To operate the directory — Restaurant submissions are reviewed and, if approved, published to help people find tip-free dining options.

  To send newsletters — If you subscribed, we'll send occasional emails about new tip-free spots and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.

  To prevent abuse — IP hashes help us limit duplicate confirmation votes so the community data stays trustworthy.

  To respond to your messages — Contact form submissions are used solely to reply to you.

Cookie Policy

SkipATip uses a minimal number of cookies — only what's necessary to make the site work:

  Admin session cookie — Set only when an admin logs into the admin dashboard. Expires when you close the browser or log out. This cookie is never set for regular visitors.

  Preview cookie — Set temporarily for restaurant owners or partners previewing a listing before it goes live. Short-lived and does not track behavior.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics that follow you across websites.

Third-Party Services

We use Supabase for our database and Stripe for payment processing (for certified listings). Both are industry-standard services with their own privacy policies. Stripe processes payment data directly — we never see or store your full card number.

Your Rights

You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, request that we delete it, or correct inaccurate information. Just email us at privacy@skipatip.com and we'll take care of it promptly.
